client journey: deconstructing + transforming an engagement ring

Ring transformation Nikki triple diamond white gold ring.JPG

transforming a traditional claw set solitaire into a bespoke modern diamond ring for nikki. Representing the journey of a relationship.

This piece was made by deconstructing my clients original solitaire, all of the original materials were reused with 2 additional diamonds to create a new piece.

“I had bought Nikki a diamond ring 15 years ago and wanted to supplement it with another ring to enhance the look of the original and to create a piece that was modern but still embraced my original gift. Shivani worked up a number of designs on the basis of using the gold from the original ring in the new ring.

Her original scale sketches provided us with 3 or 4 ideas that we hadn't previously thought about, we settled on the final design, which was fresh, modern and original. Shivani worked up the sketches into detailed drawings and we gave the go ahead to produce. The whole process was seamless, Shivani completely understood what I was trying to achieve with my original thoughts in producing a ring for Nikki.

I had seen some of Shivani's pieces before; she made a good friend's wedding rings and the originality in the design made a statement. I think when you have an idea of what you are trying to achieve, you want a designer who can embrace the idea, who does not force the process into a solution that only they are comfortable with. Shivani not only embraced our ideas, but pushed them using her knowledge of what can be achieved with the materials and has ultimately produced a piece that is exceptional.”
